A safe place where members go to be who they are

Meet our members

Our members are warm and compassionate adults with a range of learning difficulties and neurodiversity.

Key to joy offer them belonging, safety and friendship. Here’s your chance to get to know some of our them . . .

  • Lyndsey

Hi, I am Lyndsey and I am a member of Key to joy.  I was only in my 30's when I was diagnosed with autism.  I've struggled with my mental health for most of my life.  I live in Fareham and I try to attend three days a week.

Attending has been really good and I've found out that I really love archery.  I am very happy because I have passed the Archery Beginners Course.

I've been coming to Key to joy as often as possible for quite a while now and I really enjoy it and have fun.  It is like having extra members of my family.

  • Jake

    My name is Jake.

I have been attending Key to joy for around a year and a half now.

I really like archery and playing table tennis.

I like meeting other people my own age.

It is much better than just staying home.

  • Ghada

I'm Ghada and I've been coming to Key to Joy for quite some time now.  I like meeting others who are a bit like me.  We can join in together.

I enjoy helping the team. I often help setting up and clearing away when we cook or do other stuff.

I am getting better at painting and drawing and enjoy gardening.

I'm glad I can come to Key to joy

  • Michael

I'm Michael and I'm one of the older members of Key to joy.

I like meeting and chatting with other members.

I am keen to help with the garden.

I've tried archery but I like the dart archery best.

I help setting up the gardening sessions and putting up the gazebos when we need them.

  • Sam

Key to joy makes me feel more confident in doing the activities and cheers me up whenever I'm with my friends.

  • Shelley

I come once a week and love coming here to see my friends.

Become a member

Our membership is near full capacity due to the limited size of our venue, which is why we’re currently running a fundraising campaign for a bigger space. However, we do still have availability on specific days and opportunities for more people to join us during offsite events, so please do get in touch if you’d like to know more about membership.

There are other ways you can get involved and show your support, whether that’s attending one of our events, volunteering or running an activity for our members or their carers. Please go ahead and reach out using the form below if you have any questions.
