Leave a Legacy

Leave a Legacy That Brings Joy

Leaving a gift in your will to Key to Joy can make a lasting impact on the lives of adults with disabilities and neurodiversity in the Fareham and Gosport area. Your legacy can help bring happiness, opportunity, and support to those who need it most—long into the future. It’s a powerful act of generosity that becomes a meaningful part of the legacy you leave behind.

How to Leave a Legacy

Creating a will is the first step in ensuring that your wishes are honoured. While taking care of family and friends is naturally the priority, choosing to include a charitable gift to an organisation like Key to Joy is a beautiful way to help others benefit from your kindness.

We strongly recommend seeking advice from a qualified professional, such as a solicitor, when writing or updating your will.

You will need to provide your solicitor or Will-writer with these three pieces of information:

  1. Charity name: Key to Joy

  2. Charity address: Orchard House, Kiln Hill, Soberton, SOUTHAMPTON, SO32 3QE

  3. Registered Charity Number: 1201453

Writing Your Will

Writing a will might seem daunting, but there are plenty of affordable services and resources to help you get started. Once it’s completed, you should store the original document safely—typically with your solicitor. You can also register it with the Probate Office for added security.

The Different Types of Gifts You Can Leave

There are three main ways to leave a gift in your will:

  • A fixed sum of money

  • A specific item (for example, jewellery, a painting, or property)

  • A share of your estate (known as a residuary gift)

Leaving a share of your estate tends to have the greatest and most lasting impact, as its value naturally adjusts over time.

Already Have a Will?

If your will is already written, you don’t necessarily need to start from scratch to include a gift to Key to Joy. A solicitor can add a simple amendment (called a codicil) to reflect your wishes.

By including Key to Joy in your will, you can help bring happiness, dignity, and opportunity to generations of young people. If you'd like to discuss this in more detail, please don’t hesitate to get in touch—we’re here to support you every step of the way.
