Could you become a Trustee ?

Become a Trustee

According to the Charity Commission for England and Wales there are nearly 925,000 trustees involved in just under 170,000 charities which are supported by about 5.68 million volunteers. Although these are a substantial number, more are needed every day, as the demand for additional charitable services grows.

At Key to Joy the Board of Trustees guides the strategic direction of the Charity. As with all charities, it is important that between us we have a full and complementary range of knowledge, skills and experience to ensure that we can meet our purposes and responsibilities. Any Trustee role comes with the responsibility to always act in the best interests of the charity.

Supporting us by volunteering as a Trustee is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the community that Key to Joy serves and sustaining the future of Key to Joy.

What is the level of Commitment for a Trustee?

At Key to Joy we ask that Trustees commit to for a minimum of 24 months or 2 years and to enthusiastically share their skills and experiences to help us succeed. There are regular Board Meetings which take place about once a month.

You will also be expected to engage with Key to Joy 'business' matters outside of these meetings. As a Board we want to share our efforts so that it is not too much for any individual.

What are the benefits of being a Trustee?

All of our Trustees enjoy the sense of belonging and reward of supporting our members, but they also love the opportunity to bring something new to the table. Whether that’s a wealth of experience laying dormant in retirements or areas of expertise you’re yet to be able to bring into the fore in everyday life.

It’s a chance to do some good and experience the joy of being involved with a local independent charity that makes a real difference to the lives of our members.
